Introduction
JSK. The BSNL Young Brahmins (YBs) is a youth group that aims to build a community of cultured young Brahmins across London. We seek to develop relationships between young Brahmins to facilitate lifelong friendships and build contacts within our community. We aim to achieve this while teaching younger generations about our religion and culture.
A message from the Chair and Vice-Chair:
We are extremely excited to be reviving the Young Brahmins. BSNL has given us and our families feelings of community and belonging, and we believe it is important to educate our younger community about our rich cultural history. Since we were young, we have attended the Havan, Diwali in Trafalgar Square, Holi events, the Hanuman Chalisa, and our favourite, Navratri. We have had the privilege of participating in some of these events whilst being a member of Culture Club, which taught us so much about our rich culture and religion. We have also made friends for life. Young Brahmins allows us, as a committee, to provide the belonging, friendship, and community we feel as BSNL members to the younger generation.
We are still working on establishing a calendar of regular events, and we plan to have our first event, ‘New Year, New YBs,’ in January. However, we need support from everyone in the community to make YBs a success. We encourage you to ask your children, peers, and anyone you know under 30 to support our efforts by following all our social media pages. If you know of anyone keen to get involved in helping us organise events or have any event ideas, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
